This magnificent estate sterling silver cuff bracelet showcases the exceptional artistry of Los Ballesteros, one of Taxco's most celebrated silver workshops founded by Jalil Majul Ballesteros. In 1937, Jalil Majul Ballesteros was trained by his grandfather and godfather in Iguala, Mexico, where the Ballesteros family had been silversmiths for generations. In 1941, he moved to Taxco and switched to the style of the regional silversmiths, becoming part of the legendary Mexican Silver Renaissance that transformed Taxco into an international center for modernist silver design.

The bracelet features a striking abstract conch shell motif with flowing sculptural curves that demonstrate the sophisticated modernist aesthetic Los Ballesteros became renowned for during the 1940s-1960s golden age of Taxco silver. By the 1950s, Jalil had expanded and was selling handmade Mexican silver jewelry to tourists in Mexico City, Acapulco, Puebla and Cuernavaca, with work farmed out to family workshops in Taxco. The substantial weight of 72.36 grams reflects the quality construction and generous silver content that made Los Ballesteros pieces highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

Measuring approximately 7.5 inches with adjustable room in the construction, this cuff exemplifies the bold, organic forms that characterized mid-century Mexican modernist jewelry. Los Ballesteros is considered "one of the best talleres" with work "at least en par with the jewelry created by the most renowned names in the field" making this signed piece a true collector's treasure from Mexico's most celebrated silver capital.
