Mexico City silversmiths of the 1960s and 70s worked in a different register than their Taxco counterparts — less tourist-facing, more architecturally ambitious. This necklace and bracelet set is a perfect example. The centerpiece pendant is a large rectangular panel packed with crushed stone mosaic in turquoise, malachite, lapis, and azurite, centered on what reads as two stylized Pre-Columbian figures or faces rendered in the mosaico azteca tradition. The surrounding silver work — the arched forms, oval cutouts, organic scrollwork — is genuinely sophisticated design work, not a production piece.

What makes this set rare is the chain construction. Every link is itself a sculptural figure shape with individual stone inlay, so the necklace is as much a design statement as the pendant. Better still, the 7.5 inch bracelet uses the identical links — it connects directly to the necklace chain to extend the length, giving you a completely different wearing option. Stamped Hecho en Mexico D.F. 925 Sterling Mexico on the back of the pendant, confirming Mexico City origin and sterling silver content.

Condition: Estate excellent. All mosaic inlay intact, no losses. Clasps functional on both pieces. Natural sterling patina throughout consistent with age.
