An actual sand dollar, dipped in 24 karat gold. Every natural detail of the specimen is preserved under the gold finish: the star pattern on the face, the scalloped edge, the five petal markings that have made sand dollars a symbol of the ocean for as long as people have been collecting them on beaches. The gold dip coats the natural specimen in layers of copper and nickel before the final 24K finish. Not solid gold, but a real sand dollar wearing it beautifully.
