Seven turquoise candles with yellow flames rise from a hand painted copper-brown menorah. The flame on the tallest center candle reaches all the way to the top of the pendant. Sprigs of green leaves and bright red berries curl up from both sides, all painted freehand on a disc of mother of pearl that flashes blue, pink and gold behind the design.
This painting has the loose, cheerful hand of folk art rather than the tight precision of formal miniature work, which gives it real charm. At about 1 1/2 inches tall and 1 3/8 inches wide, it's an easy everyday pendant for a lover of Judaica and a sweet gift for the holidays.
Vintage condition, with a small fleck of paint loss on one candle and light wear to the menorah's paint, consistent with age. Hangs from a small metal loop at the top.
