Eighteen is the luckiest number in Jewish tradition, and this one shows up in fire engine red. The chai, meaning life, is cut from copper and kiln fired with a thick, glossy coat of red enamel that pools and shines the way only hand-fired mid century work does. The copper edge shows all the way around, a dark outline that makes the red look even hotter.
At 1 1/8 by 1 1/8 inches, it's big enough to read from across the room without being heavy. A brass tone jump ring is ready for a chain or cord. This was a craft fair favorite in the 1960s and 70s, when enameling studios turned out bold Judaica in colors you could see from the parking lot, and good ones in clean condition are getting harder to find.
Good vintage condition, with the enamel intact and glossy. The back is finished copper. It comes with a cord necklace in your choice of color.
