Seven glass flowers, six points, and not a dull color in sight. This vintage Star of David is enamel on copper in a bright chartreuse green, set with seven millefiori glass canes: a sunny yellow bloom at the center, ringed by cobalt and orange flowers alternating with green and white stars. Millefiori, Italian for "a thousand flowers," is made by slicing glass canes to reveal the pattern running all the way through, a technique perfected in the Venetian glass tradition.
The copper edges show a warm glow around each point, a hallmark of kiln-fired enamel work. At about 1 inch across and 1¼ inches long with the jump ring, it's an easy everyday pendant with a lot of personality. It's also a joyful bat mitzvah, bar mitzvah, or Hanukkah gift.
