This vintage Israeli sterling silver piece works double duty as both bangle bracelet and pendant. The rectangular mezuzah centerpiece features the Shema Yisrael prayer text (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21) in Hebrew scripture beneath a dimensional Hebrew letter, all executed in relief against a textured background. Bails on both top and bottom mean you can remove the panel from the bangle wire and wear it as a pendant on your choice of chain.
The Shema is one of the most sacred prayers in Judaism, commanding to place God’s words “upon your heart and upon your soul” and “upon the doorposts of your house and upon your gates.” This piece takes that literally, letting you wear those words close to your heart in either bangle or pendant form.
At 11 grams total with a 6.5” inside circumference when worn as a bangle, this gives you options. Slip it on as a bracelet for one look, or detach the mezuzah panel and wear it suspended from a chain. Marked “Made in Israel 925” on the back, this connects directly to the tradition of Israeli Judaica metalwork. The dimensional Hebrew letter rises above the scripture text, creating visual depth beyond flat panel designs.
Condition:
Estate condition with lovely natural patina. Shema text legible in relief, dimensional letter detail intact. Sterling shows age-appropriate tarnish. Bangle wire solid, mezuzah panel removes and reattaches smoothly. Bails functional on both ends. Slight darkening in recessed areas enhances the relief work.
