The sun has seen everything, and this one's expression says so. This Taxco, Mexico sterling silver brooch is built around a trapezoid face of crushed turquoise inlay. The brow, nose, eyes, and mouth are drawn in simple raised silver lines. Wavy, hand-shaped rays fan out in every direction, so the piece reads as bold sculpture from across the room.
It works two ways. A pin stem and catch run across the back, and a bail tucked behind the top ray lets it hang as a pendant. It comes with a cord necklace in the color of your choice, and it has real presence on a jacket lapel or a long cord.
Stamped Mexico, 925, and TE-01, the Taxco registry code. In good vintage condition, with one exception: the inlay in one eye is missing, leaving bare silver where the turquoise once sat. The rest of the turquoise inlay is intact. The reverse shows natural patina.
