The post-1979 Mexican hallmark system tells you exactly what you need to know about these earrings: made in Taxco, silversmith with surname initial J, 10th to register that mark. That is not a mass production operation. That is a specific artisan working in the world capital of sterling silver craft.

The design is pure modernist geometry — a domed circular top with parallel slatted cutwork sits above an inverted triangle drop with flowing wave cutwork inside the border. Two completely different geometric vocabularies working together in one piece, connected by a simple wire dangle. The oxidized finish deepens the cutwork contrast and gives the whole thing a sculptural weight that photographs beautifully and wears even better.

At 16 grams for the pair and two inches long these have real presence on the ear without being uncomfortable. Substantial enough to anchor a look, geometric enough to work with almost anything.

Condition: Estate excellent. Posts are straight and secure. Backs included. Natural sterling patina consistent with age.
